Management

Family business since 1980

The story of WiCHMANN GmbH

Since its founding in 1980, Wichmann GmbH has stood for precision, reliability, and technical excellence in the field of driveshaft manufacturing and reconditioning. As a family-owned and managed company based in Germany, we have developed over more than four decades into a leading specialist for industrial drive components – with a strong commitment to quality “Made in Germany.”

What began with dedication and skilled craftsmanship has grown into a modern, internationally oriented company. Yet our values remain unchanged: personal responsibility, long-term thinking, and close relationships with our customers, employees, and partners.

Responsibility across generations

Being a family business also means taking responsibility across generations – for our employees, for the environment, and for the economic strength of our region. That’s why we invest not only in technology, but also in training and education, sustainable processes, and secure jobs.

In 2023, we established WiCHMANN E GmbH to continue the legacy of the WÖLFER electric motor brand – a move that expands our expertise in industrial drive technology and unites the innovative power of two long-established companies under the umbrella of the WiCHMANN Group.

Technological innovation

meets tradition

Our success is built on the continuous development of our production technologies, investments in state-of-the-art testing and measuring systems, and a consistent commitment to quality. Certifications such as DIN EN 15085-2 CL1 and DIN 27201-6 are proof of our highest standards – especially in welding technology for rail vehicles. This makes us one of the few companies in Europe authorized to weld and repair driveshafts for rail applications.

At the same time, we cultivate a company culture based on experience, trust, and mutual respect – values that are not just buzzwords, but lived reality in a family business.

Owner-Managed. Independent. Customer-Focused.

As an independent family company, we are not bound by corporate structures – only by the goal of delivering the best possible solutions for our customers. This is reflected in our flexible processes, fast decision-making, and high willingness to innovate. Many of our customers have worked with us for decades – a testament to trust that drives us to improve every single day.

Whether large corporations, medium-sized machine builders, or municipal transport operators – we see ourselves as a reliable partner on equal footing, with genuine passion for technology and service.

Solidarity

Kristina Wichmann-Raschdorf is the sole managing director of WiCHMANN GmbH. She started at the bottom of the company’s ladder, learned everything from the ground up and spent a long time in preparing for this responsible position. Finally, together with their father Horst Wichmann, she focused entirely on the requirements and activities involved in managing the company. In November 2020, exactly 40 years after it had been founded, the latter handed over the reins of the company to his daughter as part of a clearly defined transfer process.

Teamwork

Solidarity, fairness, equal opportunities and focus on success – these are the values for which WiCHMANN GmbH stands. The managing director is characterised by an employee-oriented leadership style centred on people. With their roughly 100 employees, they engage in reliable and long-term cooperation that is marked by appreciation, motivation to assume personal responsibility, respect, trust, fun at work and a love of helping the company to evolve. Among other aspects, this informal corporate culture includes close contact with the senior management and short decision paths.
